The practical laboratory skills you develop on this programme will be vital to your study and transferable to research roles in industry. A structured programme of training enables you to enhance your abilities in scientific writing, critical thinking, experimental design and quantitative research methods.
Opportunities are available to undertake industrial placements and consultancy projects with a wide range of employers, including pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.
Research students in the School of Life Sciences are encouraged to submit work for publication to scientific journals and to national and international conferences. The School has a particular strength in supporting international and EU students in the generation of high-quality data for submission to scientific journals that are recognised in their home countries.
A minimum 2:1 in a relevant undergraduate degree or completion of a relevant taught/research MSc.
Other qualifications (such as the international baccalaureate) and relevant (industrial, commercial or educational) experience may also be taken into account.
