About History (Graduate Diploma), GDip - at University of East Anglia (UEA)

Study

Studying in the School of History combines breadth of choice with depth of study. Modules of choice include everything from Anglo-Saxon England to Propaganda to the Modern Middle East; an extensive list of fascinating areas to carve your future studies into.

Structure

Students choose from excellent history modules, all carefully constructed and taught by experts with relevant research interests and reputations. Coursework includes short presentations on the student's dissertation subject, which are considered more of an informal symposium that greatly aids discussion and reflection. Students taking this Diploma as a stepping stone to the MA should include a Dissertation Module.

Teaching

UEA is extremely proud of its lively research community, which includes not just MA students but PhD students and teaching staff that contribute to a collaborative and intellectually stimulating study environment.

Employability

Gain the skills and support that ensure as a graduate, you are highly employable, such as developing the ability to communicate with precision and to research, analyse and present data on complex subjects. Research skills are taught in a dedicated training programme, which provides everything the student needs to further their historical ambitions and career, including the opportunity to secure valuable experience with a variety of employers through internship initiatives.

Entry requirements

Open to applicants with a first degree (UK BA (Hons) 2:1 or international equivalent). Special entry requirements include the submission of a sample of written work on a historical subject accompanying your application. Please visit UEA's website for complete details. Applicants taking this Diploma can progress to the MA, and should include a Dissertation Module.
