About Electronics and Information Technology, MSc, PG Dip, Postgraduate Certificate - at Sheffield Hallam University

This course provides an in-depth examination of the latest developments in the area of electronics and information technology, with the option of extending your expertise in management and business subjects. The course is designed for graduates with a first degree in electronics, computer or communications engineering, or related subjects. It is aimed at graduates with four or five years experience, who want to broaden and increase their knowledge in technical areas. The course is composed from a range of specialist modules from which you can select. It takes advantage of the cutting edge research conducted in our optical communications and electronics research groups. The final project develops your particular interest in a supported environment. We particularly welcome industrially relevant projects looking at a specific problem faced by your company.Associated careersTelecommunications is a global industry. As a graduate in a technical subject, engineering and management careers are open to you. This course provides a flexible programme of study that can take into account an individual’s existing educational base and their career aspirations. The lecturers are excellent and have been extremely helpful. Dr Ken Dutton, the principal lecturer has been very impressive. The library facilities at the University are first rate and I now have access to the facilities 24 hours a day. ’I would definitely recommend studying at Sheffield Hallam. Engineering has been rated as having the best technical facilities in Europe and the infrastructure is good. The mix of modules will be totally dependent upon personal needs in terms of continuing professional development, and, where appropriate, meet the needs of the employer. The course will comprise eight modules of study plus a project. Entry requirementsNormally at least a second class honours degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering or science subject from a UK or recognised overseas institution. The course is intended for practising engineers in a wide range of disciplines and with diverse qualifications. If you hold another qualification (eg HND) backed up with relevant industrial experience, your application will also be considered.
