Clinical practitioners reflect on their professional practice and development and continue updating within this academic framework. An integral part of your professional portfolio is a development portfolio. This innovative module equips you with the knowledge and skills to develop a professional portfolio to support your clinical practice. It helps you to build your critical understanding and expertise in your area of ultrasound practice. It also provides evidence of clinical competency in your chosen area.Associated careersThe programme is designed to enhance the careers of all health care practitioners using ultrasound in diagnosis.AssessmentThis includes assignments, oral presentations, professional portfolio of clinical competence, short examinations and a scientific poster project. Each module is assessed separately.Professional recognitionThe ultrasound route is validated by the Consortium of Accreditation of Sonographic Education.Course contentEach of the named awards has a number of core modules which all students must take. It is an in-service course and as such applicants must be employed in a clinical setting or have written agreement for appropriately supervised clinical placement. The University is not responsible for finding clinical placements for students. Normal entry requirements are one of the following a pass degree in radiography or equivalent professional qualification, plus two years of clinical experience Diploma of the College of Radiographers or equivalent professional qualification plus two years of clinical experience and proven ability to cope with the academic demands of postgraduate study International students will require one of the following English qualifications TOEFL score of 550/213 or above IELTS score of 6.0 or above GCSE or GCE O level – grade B or above Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English at grade C or above You also need to have worked as a radiographer for a minimum of one year before you can be accepted on this course. Students qualifying in medical ultrasound outside the UK must apply to the Health Professions Council to establish that they are eligible for state registration, before being considered for the course. The address for the Council is Park House, 184 Kennington Park Road, London, SE11 4BU Also, students must be working clinically for part of the time whilst studying, in order to apply learning to the clinical situation. It is the responsibility of the student to find relevant clinical work.
