Student Life

Derby is a thriving city with loads going on, and it's the safest city in the East Midlands. Our campus is on the outskirts of the city, and all our halls of residence are between the campus and the city centre, so you'll be living within easy walking distance of both.

Our Derby Campus is made up of our Kedleston Road, Britannia Mill and Markeaton Street sites. They are all very close together, so you can easily walk between them. And they are linked by a free shuttle bus too.

At Kedleston Road, you will find a newsagent, cash machine, bookshop, and various cafes.

Buxton is a beautiful town with lots of character on the edge of the Peak District National Park. Our hall of residence is right in the town centre and just a couple of minutes walk from the campus.

Testimonials

Daniel Storey is studying MSc Enterprise Computing part time while working for Price Waterhouse Coopers.

University of Derby Student

"Derby's links with businesses and the computing industry have been useful because of the lectures and talks the companies come in and give us. It also gives students a chance to go out and work with companies and build contacts.

My studies are definitely helping me to further my career. They've made me focus on the types of things I need to be looking at, and where the industry itself is going. It's made me focus on where my career needs to go."

Katerina Georgiadou is from Cyprus. She completed her LL.B (Hons) and LL.M Commercial Law degrees at Derby. She is now working on her PhD.

University of Derby Student

"The lecturers are very approachable and add a touch of humour to an interesting course. They're incredibly inspiring and display enthusiasm for their subjects, whilst pushing you to achieve your best. The University's International Office has been very supportive, not only in providing help, but also in treating me as an individual and not just another student."
