INSEARCH courses are fully approved by the INSEARCH Academic Board of the University of Technology, Sydney. INSEARCH offers pathways to the first and second year UTS bachelor degrees through the following diploma courses:

English Language Courses
INSEARCH is one of the largest and most respected university language centres in Australia. From day one students hear, speak, read and write English by means of communication activities as well as videos, interactive computers, audio tapes, role-plays, seminars and classroom activities/ assignments.
Direct Entry English Program (DEEP) course
The Direct Entry English Program is designed for students preparing to enter undergraduate or post graduate courses at the University of Technology, Sydney. The course is recognised as an official entry qualification by UTS. Successful completion of DEEP will allow you direct entry acceptance into UTS without having to sit external tests such as IELTS, providing you meet the other requirements for entry into the course of your choice.
To enter DEEP, you must have either:
- A level of English equivalent to IELTS 5.5 with 6 in writing: TOEFL 525 (195 computer-based score) plus TWE 4.5; or
- INSEARH Academic English Pathway (AEP) level 8 Certificate; or
- An appropriate score in the INSEARCH entry test.
Students joining DEEP must be enrolled for a minimum of ten weeks consecutive study in this course, although the actual length of language study will depend on the English level of individual candidates.
Academic English Pathway
This course prepares you for study in Australian universities and INSEARCH academic courses. The classes focus on the skills you will need for successful study including essay writing, seminar skills, researching, listening, note taking and academic reading. The course focuses on topics of academic interest. All students are provided with a course book. This course also provides the opportunity to prepare for entry into DEEP and for IELTS courses.

On Monday of Orientation week, students are registered and important information is provided on INSEARCH services including Academic and Student Services, the UTS library, Student Union and health and counselling services. Students also participate in a campus tour to familiarise themselves with INSEARCH and UTS facilities.
During the first week of orientation, new students are provided with a set timetable booklet. The booklet lists all classes, course structures, semester dates and important policies on enrolment and the use of INSEARCH computers. During the enrolment phase, new students are given an INSEARCH student identification card, which is used as their UTS library card.

The Gus Guthrie scholarship is awarded to the top INSEARCH diploma graduate. It is valued at A$5,000 towards the cost of continuing a UTS degree course.
From time to time other scholarships are available, sponsored by external organisations. When such scholarships are offered, students will be informed and should contact the Academic Services Unit for further information or on the INSEARCH website
If you need somewhere to live when you come to Sydney our professional homestay staff can arrange airport reception and homestay accommodation with Australian families. In a family home you will not only improve your English language skills, but also gain an insight into Australian culture. In addition to a single or shared room you will receive three meals per day seven days a week. INSEARCH will keep in contact with you regularly to make sure the relationship is a happy one.

INSEARCH provides academic and general support for all students. Our staff are dedicated to providing the very best so that your time in Sydney will be productive and rewarding.
Academic advisor
To study successfully, you need support. You need to live in the right environment, obtain the right advice on courses and have access to extra tuition if necessary. INSEARCH will give you the academic advice, the personal counselling as well as information on education options to help you towards your degree. INSEARCH actively identifies students who are having academic difficulties. We also provide free extra tutorials in core subjects and English teachers are on hand to give you extra help.
Apart from the academic advisors at INSEARCH the international student counsellor at the UTS Student Services Unit can help you with personal problems that could interfere with your studies. The counselling service can assist in developing better study skills. Similar services are available for Australian students.
Learning Centre and Computer Laboratories
INSEARCH has modern, spacious computer labs featuring the latest model computers fitted with specialised teaching software. All academic course studies have their own UTS email account and access to high-speed internet and printing facilities. Helpdesk staff are ready to assist you until midnight week days.
The sophisticated learning environment continues in the learning centre, equipped with high-quality audio equipment and computers for self-learning.
The INSEARCH learning centre has a complete range of all IELTS materials with the latest audio-visual and computer support.
UTS Library
INSEARCH diploma or DEEP course students will have full access to the UTS library facilities and are given the same rights as UTS students. The UTS library is a minute's walk from INSEARCH.
UTS Union
INSEARCH students are welcome to enjoy social events and entertainment on and off campus organised by the UTS union. With over 60 clubs and societies targeting cultural, sporting and community activities, the UTS union is a great way for INSEARCH students to make friends and pursue interests.
INSEARCH runs an Airport Welcome Service for international students, which is available seven days a week. If a student wants a airport pickup, they must give the INSEARCH Homestay Office their flight details at least a week in advance. If a student doesn't need an airport pickup, and plans to make their own way to their Homestay or accommodation, they should tell the Homestay office the date and approximate time of their arrival.
The cost of Airport Welcome Service is $110.
