Testimonials

Ella Aminaldin from Malaysia
Bachelor of Architectural Design

RMIT University Student

In conjunction with the RMIT Design Research Institute, Urban Livability Program, Ella Aminaldin and her class recently participated in the Urban Livability Collective Exhibition. This exhibition included work from 10 design studios across RMIT's architecture, landscape architecture and industrial design programs. Exhibitors were required to produce a design that was not only in line with their client's specifications, but also worked towards improving environmental and social sustainability, while at the same time taking into consideration climate change and population growth.

'My partner and I designed a small environmentally-friendly retirement village of 15 units. While designing the village we worked towards a brief of sculpture in nature. The landscape was quite hilly and we were careful to ensure our design did not disturb the trees or require much excavation. We considered all the natural elements such as sun, wind and air circulation and tried to keep the site as natural as possible.

'Showcasing my work in the Urban Livability Collective Exhibition was definitely a highlight of my time at RMIT. It was great fun working with real clients on a real site.'

Krutika Wikhe from India
Master of Biotechnology

RMIT University Student

'My coursework introduced me to new topics of interest such as bioinformatics whereas my research experience gave me my first glimpse into the world of clinical research. My supervisor at CSIRO not only played a vital role in the successful completion of my research but was also responsible for giving me an opportunity to present my research as a representative of both CSIRO and RMIT at the XXIII International Conference on Yeast Genetics and Molecular Biology Conference. I have also been given the opportunity to co-author a mini-review that was submitted to the Biochemical Society Transactions journal.

'Upon finishing my Master of Biotechnology, I immediately secured a job as a research assistant at the Mental Health Research Institute of Victoria. I really believe that I owe this to all of the opportunities RMIT has presented me with.'

Marcellina Mardian, Indonesia
Foundation Studies program: Media and Communications
Degree program: Bachelor of Communication (Professional Communication)

RMIT University Student

'Foundation Studies really prepared me for university. It allowed me to focus on my study area of choice, Media and Communication. The pace of learning and guidance given by the Foundation Studies teachers allowed us to grasp the material slowly, but at the same time take on a sense of responsibility. Highlights of the program included the launch of our anthology book, Rush: Stories of the Young and Dangerous; a radio production at SYN FM; and creating and managing an advertising campaign. I am now studying the Bachelor of Communication (Professional Communication) and really enjoying it.'
