Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS), also known as The Hogeschool van Amsterdam, is a higher education university that was established in 1993 and is located in the city of Amsterdam, the Netherlands. It offers bachelor’s, master’s and associate degree programmes in the English language.

The university is home to just under 50,000 students, with a healthy portion of these being international students. Amsterdam is known to be a friendly and cosmopolitan capital city, where English is widely spoken, and people from all over the world study and work happily alongside each other. The city is seen as a cultural hub in the Netherlands, known for its artistic heritage, use of canal waterways and cycling.

Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences has 7 faculties:

  • Faculty of Applied Social Sciences and Law
  • Faculty of Business and Economics
  • Faculty of Digital Media and Creative Industries
  • Faculty of Education
  • Faculty of Sports and Nutrition
  • Faculty of Technology

The Amsterdam Fashion Institute (AMFI) is also part of Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences.

AUAS places emphasis on future success in the workplace, and wants its research to always address real world problems. They work closely with a wide range of industries across research and work placements, meaning that you will constantly be developing skills that will required in a professional field.

The university is a founding member of the Urban Research and Education Knowledge (U!REKA), which is a group of 8 European universities and higher education providers that have formed an alliance around shared themes of applied research, professional education, focus on students’ future world of work and the professional development of university staff.
